2017 Cherry Blossom Countdown: It's Here!

To see the Collection visit the Shop!

Just as the cherry blossoms signify the start of spring here in Washington, so they mark the debut of our 2017 dresses.

For our first pieces we've selected a blush colored cherry blossom print in cotton lawn for two different styles. Inspired by design elements of traditional Japanese clothing, both feature the soft shoulder line of the kimono sleeve and a padded obi sash. One has a high neck with a mandarin collar, the other an open boatneck.

The Cherry Blossom Print with Mandarin Collar is a swing shape that may be worn belted or loose. It slips easily over the head. The open v-neck takes its shape from the neckline of the traditionally wrapped Japanese robe. The elbow length, loose fitting kimono sleeve is finished with a deep cuff. Both collar and cuffs are trimmed in ivory-colored cotton lawn. The dress has side pockets, full lining, and a shaped hem that falls to the knee. Obi sash is included.

The Cherry Blossom Print with Boatneck is a blouson design, shaped with an elastic waist that allows it to slip easily over the head. The wide boatneck frames the face. Elbow length, loose fitting kimono sleeves echo the swing of the full, four-panel skirt with shaped hem that falls to the knee. The dress has side pockets and is fully lined. Obi sash is included.

For the obi, there is a choice between warm and cool palettes. Both are double sided with ties long enough to circle the waist and fasten in front. The warm palette is a peony print of medium scale in orange, pinks, and blue on an ivory ground. The reverse is a wicker basket weave in blush and white. The cool palette is a spring mix of small scale blooms in pinks, blue, green, and a touch of crimson. The reverse is a lattice design in pinks, greens, and khaki.
