Sunnyside Avenue

We all know such a place.

Visits there were once anticipated with delight, but today it is only an image in a backward glance:

Lazy clouds drift by in a bright sky.

Pecans fall out of trees.

Three children march to a white painted candy store down a road called Sunnyside Avenue.

While a nod to Charleston long ago, this dress may be worn anywhere there are happy memories.

A word about the candy store. Very clear in our mind is the building, painted white and decorated with red dots, which we believed advertised the fabulous button candy inside. Only recently have we learned that in South Carolina red dots identify a liquor store.
